Cats and Dogs – ‘Snow’
Posted on July 14, 2011 by unit24
‘Snow’ (2011, 5.26 mins) by Roeloff Bakker is part of the group exhibition ‘Cats and Dogs’ at Unit 24
The piece consists of a number of one-take videos recorded on Parkland Walk, a disused railway line in North London.
The near-static, almost monochrome scenes, show dogs and their owners stepping in and out of the frame as do conversations and ambient sound.
Whatever the weather, man’s best friend needs to be taken for a walk. Bakker says, “For me, ‘Snow’ is about the special bond between man and dog.”
‘Snow’ is part of a larger body of work in which Parkland Walk has been documented both in photographs and on film.
‘Snow’ is included in the group exhibition ‘Cats and Dogs’
